They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. I would like to know the manufacture date for this rifle, but I think it might predate the chart on the front of this site. On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code. I would therefore assume that this rifle was manufactured between 08/09/99 and 10/01/01 however, in looking at the list of beginning letters for serial numbers, the letter S would appear to be 1998.
